The Customer Service Representative is responsible for triaging all calls, emails, faxes and mail that
comes into the Medical Information department and responding to designated product and business
inquiries both verbally and in writing. The customer service representative is also responsible for creation
of customer fulfillment of medical responses, including creating a cover letter, standard medical
response, envelope and enclosures.
Duties include:
1. Interacting with health care professionals, consumers, sales representatives and internal business
colleagues to respond to product information and business requests received via phone, mail, email and
fax. Resources for responses include the product’s package insert, scripted FAQ responses, and other
documents, job aides, websites and departmental resources.
2. Respond to health care professional and consumer requests for information about clinical trials for
investigational and marketed products.
3. Track and document customer inquiries utilizing medical information contact management system.
4. Escalate designated inquiries to Medical Information Specialists, including those that cannot be
answered by the product’s package insert, those requiring more research, and more complex clinical
questions.
5. Triage potential adverse event reports to Product Safety and potential technical product complaint
reports to Product Quality. Assist with processing requests for replacements or reimbursements.
• Bachelor’s degree; 3 years of experience in a healthcare-related field using customer service skills.
Prior experience in pharmaceutical or biotech industry preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Superior customer service, verbal and written communication skills
• Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat
