As a member of Facilities Maintenance team, the Maintenance Repairs & Operations (MRO) Inventory
Control Specialist will assist in building, improving and maintaining the MRO Inventory System for the
RTP site. This position will interface with 5 different maintenance teams on site in order to identify,
categorize and organize storeroom MRO inventory parts. This position will work with the various
maintenance teams on site to setup remote storerooms and train customers on the use and operation
of MRO Inventory computer systems.
Additionally, this individual will assist in the day-to-day storeroom operations and will be responsible for
maintaining inventory stock levels, building job parts kits for maintenance work orders, carrying out
parts receiving and inspection procedures, and performing inventory control through cycle counting and
physical inventory. This job requires strong communication, Excel spreadsheet capabilities, and good
interpersonal and Team Building skills to support site objectives.
Essential Functions (% of Time)
1. Utilize MRO inventory computer system to enter, update and maintain accurate MRO parts item
information including part numbers, descriptions, vendors, min/max ordering levels and quality
information. 25%
2. Interface with the various maintenance groups to identify, catalogue and setup up parts information
in the MRO Inventory system. Work with various maintenance groups to setup, catalogue and arrange
individual storerooms. 25%
3. Assure that all parts received or entered into the MRO Inventory system meet specifications, correct
parts are received in accordance with Purchase orders, and all parts are stored in the correct location
within storeroom. 10%
4. Assist in MRO procurement by researching, sourcing and solving problems when searching for
parts/equipment which are required for a particular use or machine. 10%
5. Be a resource and provide training to storeroom customers on the procedures governing the access
and use of the MRO Inventory system. 10%
6. As a contributing resource, perform job kitting, staging and delivery to increase maintenance group
efficiencies in the execution of work orders. 10%
7. Communicates issues with supervisor and customers. 10%
1. Technical/Vocational high school diploma/equivalent required.
2. 3-5 years’ experience with inventory control, receiving, and shipping processes
3. 3-5 years’ MRO procurement experience
4. Strong computer skills and aptitude with Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, Word, Project etc.)
5. Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
6. Team-player
7. Attention to detail and results oriented.
This is a very key role in the Site Engineering department. The person needs to have the ability to
interface with all of the Production departments, Facilities Maintenance, Metrology, QA, etc. for
Maintenance parts planning. Work associated with this position may be sitting at a desk working with a
computer inputting data, managing documentation. Additionally this person will attend meetings,
conduct shutdown meetings, interface with other departments. This person will also work with vendors in
parts or equipment ordering, expediting orders on a as needed basis, entering purchase orders and
requests, receive quotes from the vendors or contractors, and schedule contractors to conduct work.
The person must have very good verbal and written communication skills, as well as be flexible to
changing priorities and needs. Teamwork is required in that this is a critical interface between different
departments and the Maintenance CMMS system. Management of maintenance scheduling and history
is a FDA cGMP requirement.
