System Integration Engineer – FT Based in Westchester County, NY

Outstanding opportunity with a global manufacturer of passenger railcars including rapid transit and commuter cars, light rail and monorail cars, and high-speed (bullet) trains. Diesel and electric locomotives are made, as well as screen door systems that make transition from passenger platform to train safe and wind protected. Major customers are the Port Authority Trans-Hudson (PATH), MTA Metro-North and State of Connecticut, Maryland MTA, Virginia Railway Express, and the Massachusetts Bay Railroad. The company operates factories in Yonkers, New York, and Lincoln, Nebraska.

This position plays a major role in resolving engineering issues in the rail car procurement projects. The
primary effort is placed for successful subsystem integrations for the rail cars. The position will be
required to have understanding in all aspects of the system integration for the assigned system
(System Functions, Functional Interface, Electrical Interface, Mechanical Interface, Peripheral equipment,
etc)
The position performs the delegated engineering tasks under manager’s instruction and supervision.
This includes but not limited to, the following:
1. Generates official correspondences for the assigned subjects and track progress
2. Coordinates communications and participates in discussion with customers, vendors, and KHI,
and suggest solutions
3. Provides elevated support for KHI engineering by providing suggestions, simpler interpretations
or recommendations regarding engineering matters for faster responses
4. Attends and may facilitate various meetings, witness tests, conferences, and other events
5. Generates and evaluates test procedures, test results, test reports, and other supporting
documents as required.
6. Supports and may lead, on-site testing, troubleshooting, field modifications
7. Delegates specialized topics to designated personnel, and manage progress
8. Supports other departments within the company concerning engineering matter in all phases of
the projects and the manufacturing
9. Any other engineering work as delegated by the authority
1. Must have three to five years of experience in the rail or closely related industries in the
capacity of system designing
2. Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering; technical knowledge in
both disciplines required
3. Must have excellent communication skill (written and verbal) as well as schedule management,
task management, and cost management skills
4. Must be a proactive problem solver
5. Practical experiences in using the federal regulations and other official standards for the U.S.
rail market a plus
6. English/Japanese bilingual verbal and written skills at a business level a plus
7. A Professional Engineer (PE) certification is preferred

Salary $70-$80k, plus bonus.
