POSITION OVERVIEW: Senior level position within a highly established and well respected contract consulting company with a variety of departments and reach into the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. RESPONSIBILITIES OVERVIEW:
- Conduct health economic research studies which include, but are not limited to:
- Decision modeling (including Markov, decision tree, and discrete event modeling as well as the application of probabilistic sensitivity analysis techniques) in support of economic evaluations such as cost-effectiveness, budget impact, early threshold pricing, and within-trial analyses from the perspective of the US, UK, and/or other countries
- Design and application of health economic analyses (including retrospective data analyses, prospective analyses linked to clinical trials [experience with analyses of longitudinal data is preferred], chart abstraction, utility assessment and quality of life studies, systematic literature reviews and meta-analyses)
- Candidate will have already demonstrated excellent technical and interpersonal skills, preferably in a consultancy-based environment, and would be expected to:
- Independently manage and deliver high-quality scientific projects to agreed timelines and budgets
- Proactively build client relationships as well as a portfolio of active client-based work
- Scope and develop proposals based on evaluations of client requirements
- Develop reports, abstracts, posters, and presentations through composing, writing, and reviewing content
- Identify and assess opportunities for evaluating and demonstrating product value
- Work closely with key opinion leaders internationally
- Actively support the strategic development of the group
- Support other practice areas by considering client needs and bringing in other groups when appropriate
- Contribute to the professional development of our research staff
- Continue to build your scientific profile through publication and presentation of your work
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A PhD in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Economics, Mathematics, Health Economics, Biostatistics, or a related field with at least 3 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, contract research, consulting or related area
- Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Economics, Mathematics, Health Economics, Biostatistics or related field and a minimum of 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, contract research, consulting, or related area
- Bachelor’s degree Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Economics, Mathematics, Health Economics, Biostatistics or related field and SIGNIFICANT experience in the pharmaceutical industry, contract research, consulting, or related area
- Candidates should have proven consultancy/industry-based experience in at least one of the following areas:
o Decision modeling (including Markov, decision tree, and discrete event modeling as well as the application of probabilistic sensitivity analysis techniques) in support economic evaluations from the perspective of the US or other countries. Experience in supporting submissions to reimbursement and regulatory agencies such as NICE, SMC, and US managed care would be a distinct advantage
- Design and application of health economic analyses (including retrospective data analyses, prospective analyses linked to clinical trials [experience with analyses of longitudinal data is preferred], chart abstraction, utility assessment and quality of life studies, systematic literature reviews and meta-analyses)
- Proven academic record through peer-reviewed publication and conference presentation a plus
- Formal training or extensive experience in decision-analytic modeling, including Markov models and simulation modeling
- Extensive programming experience with statistical packages, particularly SAS (mainframe preferred) and/or Microsoft Excel with Visual Basic for Applications
- Extensive experience conducting analyses of large administrative claims data (e.g., data from commercial insurers or government programs such as Medicare) and other retrospective data sources; SAS programming to conduct the analysis and report the results
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team; excellent analytical skills and interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral)
