Research Associate, Preclinical Sciences

Work directly with scientists to help advance pipeline molecules through a variety of in vitro preclinical studies. The position involves hands-on bench activities focused on in vivo work, with some additional work on in vitro assays. The ideal candidate will work well in a team environment and will be expected to interact with other scientists and staff members in Research and Development.
•With the guidance of a Research Scientist, the Research Associate II actively contributes to Preclinical Research by following existing procedures (with occasional modifications) to evaluate the new biologic therapeutic candidates and reagents through in vivo models
•Project timelines for completion of tasks (1-2 weeks) in an experimental plan set by the Research Scientist
•Serve as internal resource for technical or laboratory procedures
•Complete objectives within the agreed upon time frame
•Report research progress internally through individual and group meetings, presentations and written documents
•Individual contributor with no manager responsibilities
•2 – 5 years of relevant experience with the following skills and characteristics:
•Track record of organization and attention to detail.
•Good oral and written communication skills
•Working knowledge of the research laboratory environment
•Familiarity with all basic and some complex laboratory equipment / instrumentation
•Demonstrate a close attention to detail and meticulous work habits
•Promptly and accurately document all work in accordance with policy and at a level of detail sufficient to reproduce experimental results
•Work together on team-based assignments with other team members, as well as provide support for other Research groups
•Be able to prioritize and allocate effort appropriately
•Extensive experience with in vivo studies including model validation, dosing (i.v., i.p., s.c., and oral), and sample harvesting
•Good experience in molecular biology techniques (ELISA, PCR etc.)
•Willing to learn new things
•Good written and verbal communication skills
•In vivo experience with bone and muscle diseases
•Imaging techniques (MRI, Micro CT, fluorescence) and analysis
•Possess a working knowledge of computer software including:
•MS Office for word processing, presentation and data evaluation
•Web-based software for searching scientific literature and sequence databases (e.g. Entrez PubMed and NCBI nucleotide or protein databases)
•GraphPad Prism and SoftMax pro software for data analysis
