This firm provides medical education and consulting services for the pharmaceutical industry and healthcare community. Summary:
- Collaborate with Medical Affairs colleagues to guide and assist in strategy development
- Provide medical / scientific expertise to internal and external groups / stakeholders, including field medical team, commercial organization, and key thought leaders
- Contribute to / lead the strategic planning and execution of medical strategy including external advocacy and education, publication planning, abstracts, posters, KOL development / advisory boards, and medical information
- Support interactions with thought leaders
- Maintain a high knowledge level of new data and developments within the therapeutic area and proactively advocate scientific positioning during client interactions
Content Development:
- Oversee content development, including primary writing
- Develop direction and scientific content for assigned projects including PowerPoint slide presentations and enduring materials (manuscripts, scientific posters, CD-Roms, websites)
- Identify participants and develop content for symposia, advisory boards, editorial boards
- Ensure that projects are technically accurate, audience appropriate, and in-line with product strategy or message
- Ensure consistent quality across products; assign and review work of freelance writers and editors
New Business and Strategic Development:
- Lead scientific portion of new product pitches and medical education plans for various therapeutic areas; this includes rapidly obtaining and synthesizing new knowledge
- Proactively identify medical opportunities with existing clients that contribute to strategic/tactical development and growth of accounts
- Develop depth of understanding for various products in different therapeutic areas, related scientific/medical areas, and competitive products
- Serve as scientific/medical and technical information source for internal team and client
Client/KOL Relationship:
- Build rapport with external medical/scientific community and client; interact with healthcare professionals on programs to meet strategic objectives and to build product advocacy
- Coordinate with Client Services and Program Direction teams to liaison with clients regarding content and programs; serve as a member of the team with the flexibility and understanding that strategy is driven by client services, tactics are driven by program direction, and content is driven by the scientific director and editors
- Limited travel to attend external programs and client meetings, as needed (< 10% time)
Requirements:
- MD, PharmD, or PhD preferred or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 8 years experience in a pharmaceutical- or medical-related field with at least 3 years in medical affairs/education/marketing- CNS or Epilepsy preferred
- Demonstrated ability to incorporate strategy and content
- Ability to assist in the development of and participate in successful presentations
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; proficiency with PowerPoint
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to participate and interact effectively on team
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to multitask, work independently, self-motivated
Compensation and Benefits
• A competitive compensation package – base salary of $125k-$200k DOE, performance & incentive bonus, healthcare, 401k and vacation and holiday benefits will be offered to the successful candidate.
• Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. and be fluent in English.
